My Current Night Time Skincare Routine

Hi all, I am back with another skincare related post!
As you know by now, I am a huge skincare junkie. I emphasize alot on taking care of my skin so I can avoid as much makeup on as possible. I am obsessed with glowy bare skin so I have spent quite a bit on different range of skin care to see what gives me the best result. Since I am working in a factory right now ( for 4 months only!), I am not allowed to put on any make up due to strict food safety regulations. This definitely gave me an excuse to take extra care of my skin since I have to be seen without make up on every single day! ( no fragrance, eyelash extensions, nail polish and even accessories). Hence I have decided to pen down my current night time skincare routine to share with you! Btw, I also wrote a lengthy post on my Pixi collection ( which hasn't grown since then because I have been trying out other products!), you can read it here.

Let's dive in! 🏊

1. Cleanser
So for cleanser, I switch between my trusted Clinique Liquid Face Soap and B.Liv No Spots, Bye Dots. They are both fragrance free and doesn't leave my skin feeling dry. I am not very particular when it comes to cleanser, just find one that suits your skin condition! As long as they leave you feeling cleansed, BUT NOT DRYING. ( You know how some soaps gives you the squeeky clean feeling? Not good!)
But I definitely prefer my Clinique cleanser because it acommodates to my skin type which is combination.

Available in 3 skin-typed formulas :
Extra-Mild for Very Dry to Dry Skin.
Mild for Dry Combination Skin.
Oily Skin Formula for Combination Oily or Oily Skin.

2. Toner and Essence

So my second step is toner and essence which are the famous duo from SKII. I have heard way tooo much raving reviews about it so I couldn't resist despite the steep price point. 💸

It is important to use toner after you cleanse your face to remove any excess dirt AND to prep your skin for the rest of your beauty regime. It helps your skin absorbs product better so none of your hard earn money goes to waste! On the other hand essence is a lightweight liquid that instantly balances the skin after cleansing and toning, while hydrating our skin.

After 5 months of religiously using this duo, I can definitely feel that my skin has brighten up and most importantly, it saved my skin from all the late nights up working. I sleep very late and my skin should have been doomed with breakouts and what not but it is still looking clear and radiant as before. This is because SKII's Facial Treatment Essence also improves barrier function of our skin to prevent it from dullness, dryness and wrinkles.

Alternatively, I also love my Glow Tonic from Pixi since it is much more affordable too!

3. Eye Product

So I have read a lot about others' skincare routine and there are different theories when it comes to eye products. There are generally 2 schools of thoughts : On one side are people who put eye products at the very last step of their skincare routine since eye-targeted products are usually more concentrated and thick in texture and hence it needs to be applied last ; Where as some apply it at the first few steps of their routine in order for it to absorb better and also since it is impossible to avoid touching your eye area completely when you apply the rest of your skin care products. I think the latter makes more sense so that is what I am doing for now and the product I am using for my eyes, The Ordinary's Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG . I think it works better in terms of de-puffing my eyes but I'm not seeing any obvious results in terms of lightening my dark eye circles. Nevertheless, it doesn't cause any milia seeds which is formed when excessive oil accumulates underneath our eyes!

4. Moisturizer

My favoriteeeeeeeee step in the skincare routine! I add a few drops of my Pixi Rose Oil Blend in my Clinique Moisturizer to maximise the hydration effect. It is vital for me to add a few drops of this rose oil into my moisturiser cause I really really do see and feel the difference when I skip this step! Don't worry girls, it doesn't leave your skin feeling oily or sticky, it is instantly absorbed by the skin and it keeps your skin hydrated for longer hours. After application, I also massage some oil onto my skin to let the products absorb better, increase blood circulation and even help flush out some toxin from my face to avoid pores blockage. My entire face turns red after the massage but it feels really great!

5. Hyaluronic Acid

Recently, I also added this Hyaluronic Acid to my routine for better hydration support. The texture is something I'm slowly getting used to cause it is a glue-like texture but it is absorbed pretty well by the skin so it doesn't feel sticky or overwhelming. I apply this AFTER my moisturiser cause I read it here that Hyaluronic acid is something like a Moisture Magnet and it will do the opposite and pull moisture away from deep layers of your skin to hydrate the surface if you apply it on dry skin!

6. Sleeping Mask

I always end my skincare routine with a sleeping mask to lock in all that products and nourish my skin when I sleep. These 2 are my holy grails and I switch between them since they pretty much work the same! My Pixi Nourishing Sleep Mask has been a staple item since last year and I have been singing its praises ever since. Guess what guys, the price increased by RM40 from last year too, that is insane! Thank god I stocked up beforehand so I'm safe for now. This sleeping mask is absorbed well by the skin so when you wake up there is no blocked pores, only a natural glow! It is definitely my number 1 favourite from Pixi. Where as for Cosrx, It is transparent and it is thicker in texture compared to Pixi's sleep mask. It is SOOOO affordable in comparison too! I got it here on Hermo.
