My Blackhead Journey

I have never really been open about this but one thing I am most insecure about myself is my nose area where I am almost ALWAYS struggling with blackheads. It is common for your nose to be victim of blackheads because it has the largest pores which means that it secretes more sebum ( oil). These sebum may then be mixed with the dead skin cells or dirt on your nose, forming tiny black dots  that basically is clogging your pores. ( They are black because of oxidation !) Guess what, this worsens as you age since your pores get bigger and I am feeling the repercussions. 

In my case, not only do I have oily nose, my nose and upper lips area get SUPER sweaty too. ( see photo below) These sweat combines with the dirt in the air when they dry up and tadah, there goes my nose. They definitely bring down my complexion and make my nose area look so patchy whenever I put on foundation. *cries*

Hence I have been trying to get rid of these blackheads for the longest time. I have tried various kinds of mud masks, exfoliators, toners, SOOO many types of products but they are never permanent solutions. What I found most effective among these would be mud masks ( from Innisfree, here) but 1.I hate hate hate how messy mud masks gets 2. Mud masks are drying for the skin if you do it often. So I would rather not go back to it. Seriously, I hate mud masks. To apply all kinds of treatment is merely to get rid of them when they have already been formed, but I am looking for a long term, permanent solution that would not just last me for a day or two. I knew I needed to find a way to properly cleanse my nose area so I can prevent these blackheads instead of just avoiding them temporarily.

To be honest, Clarisonic and FOREO were both on my radar but they were too expensive to even dream of. I may be really desperate to get rid of blackheads but the price tag is just too steep. Like what? RM600 and above?! I definitely know I will not be using Clarisonic because I think to keep the bristles clean, that would be a bigger challenge for me LOL. Where as for FOREO, let's just say I was skeptical of the functionality behind because they just look too good to be true. Come on, its just a silicon vibrating device.

I was dead wrong.

In mid September, we were approached by FOREO to do a review on their Mini Luna Play Plus. First and foremost, I NEVER knew they had an option that is this affordable! I always thought all their devices were around the RM600 price point so I could only dream of it. But this Mini Luna Play Plus is only $49! Even if we weren't gifted, I would have definitely bought it to try on my own! I can definitely see my overall skin condition improving, and I did NOT have any break out during my period this month so that is an achievement. The icing on the cake? My blackheads are reducing on a visible level.

Seriously I have been so happy with the results that I keep taking these close up shots to prove to myself! In all honesty, the reason why I even bothered to write this post is because I took so many of these I thought I shouldn't waste them HAHA. Of course, it is also vital to have a great cleanser in order for this to work because this device does not cleanse on its own, you still need to use it with a facial cleanser. I think it works well with foamy cleanser too. How it works? It uses 8,000 T-Sonic™ (transdermal sonic) pulsations every minute to deep cleanse your skin. It feels super gentle and it is actually quite addictive! I was planning to use it once a day at night but I found myself using them in the day too because I genuinely enjoy this routine. Although this Mini Luna Play Plus is NOT rechargeable like the Luna 2, it is equipped with replaceable AAA battery! This is also why I think the Mini Luna Play Plus is a much more affordable option. 

My Current Cleansing Routine

The trio that saved my self-confidence : Son & Park Beauty Water, FRESH Soy Face Cleanser and FOREO Mini Luna Play Plus! It is almost as important to find a suitable cleanser because for about 2 weeks time, I was using the Mini Luna Play Plus with a cleanser that I felt was very mediocre by B.liv and I did NOT see any visible result. But once I painfully dragged myself to finish the B.liv cleanser and moved on to this FRESH's one, everything took a 180 turn! The first time I tried this cleanser I was already in love. It had a slight cooling sensation ( I am not sure why but it disappeared after the first wash! I don't feel that anymore) and it smells very natural. I wouldn't say it smells like soy milk but it smells mild and gentle. I just love how my skin feels supple, refreshed but not drying after rinsing. Remember girls, cleansers that leave you squeaky clean means it is too dry! 

Step 1 : Apply some cleanser onto my entire face. 

Step 2 : Massage my face with the Mini Luna Play Plus while emphasising on my T-zone and the side of my nose. ( The tip has rougher silicon so it can help to clean the stubborn area!)

Step 3 : Rinse

Step 4 : Use Son & Park's toner to double cleanse and make sure any kind of dirt is stripped off my face

Step 5 : Apply the rest of my nightly skin care routine
